It is important to follow these instructions after a surgery.
Typically, you’ll need to wait to eat for approximately 2 hours so that any anesthesia you were administered can wear off. Eating too soon after a dental procedure may damage the soft tissues.
Other guidelines specific to your procedure will be provided.
If you have had work involving bridges and crowns, it may take 1 to 2 days before full sensation is restored to your mouth. You may experience some initial soreness too. Avoid sticky foods and take care while brushing and flossing around your crown or bridge.
Veneers may feel awkward for a few days, but soon they will feel more natural. There also may be some sensitivity at first.
You will need to take special care of yourself after a tooth extraction. Limit yourself to soft foods such as mashed potatoes, gelatin, and blended drinks. To keep the blood clot intact, do not drink from a straw.
Take your pain medication.
Call the dentist at 530-527-7951 if you are bleeding after 24 hours. Prop your head with a pillow to reduce the chance of bleeding.
